about

This song introduces the image of a long dry corn field in America, using the banjo to emphasize the placement in the New World. My first name, Wesley is an old English name, consisting of two words: Wes and Ley, or Lea. The first word is for the cardinal direction West, and the second word means land, meadow, or field depending on context. This song shows us the Western field.

lyrics

I see a field, golden and long. (a, 8)
There is a bird singing her song. (a, 8)

Clouds in the sky, (b, 4)
no rain come yet. (c, 4)
